Theme: Strengthening Social Development to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Hosted by the Department of Social Development and Welfare at Universitas Gadjah Mada in partnership with Arizona State University’s School of Social Work, the 21st ICSD Biennial Conference explored the critical role of social development in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference brought together academics, practitioners, policymakers and students from across the globe to share research, practical experiences and innovative approaches to addressing poverty, inequality and environmental sustainability. Discussions focused on accelerating progress towards the SDGs through interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based social development practice.

The conference featured keynote presentations from internationally recognised leaders, including Professor Leila Patel, Professor Manohar Pawar, Professor Annamaria Campanini, Professor James Herbert Williams and senior government representatives from Indonesia, reflecting the conference’s strong international and cross-sectoral focus
