Give to ICSD
Your gift helps expand opportunities for students, supports scholarship, strengthens international collaboration, and advances the work of social development around the world.
ICSD brings together scholars, practitioners, and students from across the globe to advance research, education, and practice in social development. Your support helps sustain conferences, publications, leadership development, and programs that strengthen the field and expand participation.
ICSD is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States and contributions are tax deductible. Because ICSD is led primarily by volunteers and maintains low administrative costs, your contribution directly supports the organization’s mission.
Where your gift can make a difference
You may give to the ICSD General Fund, which allows the Board to respond to the organization’s highest priorities, or you may designate your gift for one of the following purposes. Simply note your preference when making your contribution.
Student and emerging scholar participation
Help students and early career scholars participate in the biennial International Conference on Social Development or one of ICSD’s regional conferences. These gifts support registration, travel, and other participation costs, making it possible for promising scholars and practitioners from around the world to become part of the international social development community.
Membership access
Help provide ICSD memberships to colleagues who would otherwise be unable to join because of cost. Many are scholars and practitioners working in low-income countries. Your support broadens participation and strengthens the organization.
Social Development Issues
Support the publication and distribution of Social Development Issues, ICSD’s peer reviewed journal. Your gift helps sustain an international forum for scholarship, research, and dialogue on issues central to social development.
Knowledge resources
Help develop the ICSD website as a global resource for research, teaching, and practice. Our current efforts focus on expanding materials connected to the priorities identified in ICSD’s Statement on the Second World Summit for Social Development while making knowledge more accessible to members and the broader community.
Named lectures and awards
Several distinguished lectures and awards are supported through donor established funds, including the James Billups International Social Development Leadership Award, the Shanti K. Khinduka Lecture in Social Development, and the Dan Sanders Peace and Social Justice Memorial Lecture. Gifts may be directed to any of these existing funds to ensure these important traditions continue.
Unrestricted gifts
Unrestricted gifts provide the greatest flexibility for ICSD. They support implementation of ICSD’s strategic plan while allowing the Board to respond to emerging opportunities and address priorities as they arise.
Establish a named fund
A named fund may be established with a gift of $15,000 or more. Named funds create a lasting legacy while supporting an area of social development that reflects the donor’s interests and values. At the current funding level, a named fund can support scholarships, conference participation, a recurring lecture or award, or another priority that advances ICSD’s mission. We welcome the opportunity to discuss other possibilities that align with your philanthropic goals. Please contact the ICSD Treasurer to begin the conversation.
Larger gifts and planned giving
Larger gifts and planned giving offer an opportunity to make a lasting investment in ICSD’s future. These gifts can advance ICSD’s strategic priorities or support initiatives that reflect a donor’s interests. We welcome conversations with people and organizations interested in making a significant investment in the organization. If you would like to discuss a larger contribution or include ICSD in your estate plans, please contact the ICSD Treasurer.
