The International Consortium for Social Development (ICSD) Africa Branch is showcasing and promoting the work of social development scholars, practitioners and policy makers in Africa as part of the working paper series of webinars under the ICSD Africa Branch. The webinar series continues in 2025 with Prof Mziwandile Sobantu presenting his paper titled:
The Relevance of Housing to Social Work and the Humanities: A Sustainable Development Goals Analysis

Prof Mzwandile Sobantu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work and Community Development at the University of Johannesburg. He is a National Research Foundation (NRF)-rated researcher. His research includes housing, social development, older persons and human rights. Mzwandile has published in national and international journals and presented papers at International Social Work conferences. Currently, he is co-editing a book on housing and social development in Africa, expected to be published in mid-2026.
