ICSD membership benefits

An ICSD membership provides a range of meaningful benefits while supporting the organization’s work. Members receive reduced registration fees for biennial world conferences and related congresses, open access to Social Development Issues, opportunities to share job announcements and event notices, and connection to an international network of scholars and practitioners engaged in social development.

A central advantage of membership is the ability to participate in global conversations through ICSD’s platforms. This role has expanded now that ICSD holds consultative status at the United Nations, offering members a stronger voice in international policy and practice dialogues.

Conference: Conferences are held biennially to enable members to learn more about social development by hearing from experts in the field, attending presentations of papers by fellow colleagues, visiting agencies engaged in social development activities, and meeting other individuals concerned with promoting social development and sharing their experiences.

Discounted symposium registration: The ICSD symposia are available to all persons interested in social development. However, members of ICSD can register for these symposia at a considerable discount. Student members and members from economically developing countries are provided even greater registration discounts.

Social Development Issues Journal: The SDI journal is an open-access journal, ensuring that all readers can freely access current scholarship in the field. ICSD members continue to benefit from opportunities to contribute to the journal’s direction, receive calls for papers and publication updates in advance, and participate in special issues and editorial initiatives that highlight emerging work in social development.

ICSD Newsletters: Members receive a semiannual newsletter. These updates provide concise information about the organization’s activities, highlight current issues in social development, and share announcements about relevant events, including conferences hosted by partner organizations.

International Networking: ICSD connects a global community of individuals and organizations committed to social development. Members have access to an international directory that supports idea exchange, collaboration, and partnership-building across disciplines and regions. The network offers an easy way to engage with colleagues worldwide who share a commitment to advancing social development.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs): ICSD offers its members the opportunity to earn CEUs at biennial conferences. These learning experiences enable members to stay current in their knowledge and to fulfill their respective CEU requirements. In the near future, ICSD provides its members the opportunity to engage in online learning opportunities at minimal cost.
